Asbestos tagging solution for Toshiba

Toshiba is known around the world for its cutting edge technologies. The adoption of Asbestos Tag and other Scafftag systems at Toshiba’s LCD TV production plant in Plymouth demonstrates its commitment to innovation in site safety as well as its products.

In order to fulfill their requirements under the “Duty to Manage” asbestos regulations, Toshiba’s TV production plant in Plymouth chose Noble Asbestos Consultancy Ltd to carry out the asbestos survey of their premises and to help develop a management plan. Part of the plan was the introduction of the Asbestos Tag system from Scafftag. Placed under the light switches at workspace entrances throughout the site, the system communicates the latest information from ongoing inspections.

Kerry-Anne Ellis, Surveyor at Noble Asbestos Consultancy Ltd commented:
“The Asbestos Tag system was chosen because of its flexibility and ease of updating. The system uses a simple visual mechanism – a green insert to indicate the area is asbestos-free, a red insert for danger or an empty holder for ‘Do-Not-Use’ as no inspection has been carried out.”

Toshiba also uses Laddertag™ for all its ladders, the Forkliftag® system for pre-shift truck inspections and Unitag® for its lifting devices for the transportation of goods throughout the factory.

Terry Reid, Technical Process Leader at Toshiba pointed out that “given the size of the plant and that we have almost 400 employees and a large volume of contractors on site, the Scafftag range of systems provided the peace of mind that there is something visual in place on the equipment throughout the plant.”
