Scafftag equips pipes for safe and speedy identification

Scafftag, the UK’s leading supplier of equipment status management systems, has launched a range of fully customisable and ‘off-the-shelf’ pipeline identification solutions for the offshore, processing and utilities industries.

Scafftag’s unique Equip programme helps identify the most appropriate product solution using a comprehensive on-site assessment.

The range of pipe marking devices are designed to provide high durability and visibility in potential risk environments, which enables businesses to comply with the current legal requirements of British Standards and the HSE (see notes to editors).

Each product uses over-laminated material, which is highly resistant to chemicals, ultraviolet rays and extreme weather conditions. In addition, Scafftag offers an optional 10-year guarantee for applications in areas such as refineries, oil and gas rigs, chemical plants and other exposed working environments.

A range of ready-made solutions are available for more than 300 standard substances in several sizes and layouts. But, using Scafftag’s unique Equip process, the systems can also be totally customisable to accommodate non-standard pipe contents or dimensions as well as different adhesive, visibility, durability and budget requirements. In all cases, each pipe marking is produced to meet existing industry regulations and directives.

Jonathan Edwin, business manager of Scafftag, says: “Businesses can spend an enormous amount of wasted time searching for information on pipe contents, particularly when there are subcontractors and new employees involved. Unmarked pipes are a danger to both life and property.

“Our system provides immediate visibility of which substances are running through pipes and as a consequence help to reduce accidents, injuries and damage to equipment.”

Scafftag freely offers training tools, operation guidance and safety advice as part of an ongoing personal service. A dedicated Scafftag Equip expert is able to discuss client’s bespoke requirements and complete a free on-site assessment.
