Osborne announces company wide policy to only use NASC members

News from NASC

Osborne has announced that with immediate effect, contractors responsible for the scaffolding packages on all of its projects must be members of the National Access and Scaffolding Confederation (NASC).

The move is designed to ensure that Osborne’s scaffolding contractors have the industry recognised level of best practice and approach to health and safety that membership of the NASC brings.

Osborne group director of health and safety Peter Robertshaw says, “Health and safety and best practice are of paramount importance to Osborne. Stipulating NASC scaffold companies is the natural and responsible decision. By choosing companies that are stringently regulated to ensure best practice, we massively reduce the risk associated with our construction projects.”

Osborne has written to all its scaffolding contractors about the new rule.

NASC President Bob Whincap says, “The scaffolding industry is being forced by main contractors such as Osborne to work to a clear and recognised NASC industry standard. There is no logical argument why all main contractors shouldn’t be following this policy.”

Peter Robertshaw continues, “We are continuously looking at ways to ensure our projects run smoothly and pose no risk to our operatives or the general public.  This is just one of a number of initiatives that we are putting in place to ensure we continue to operate effectively and successfully.”
